Message from our CEO

Greetings everyone,

On behalf of the Special Purpose Vehicle Society Umiam Basin, Meghalaya, I welcome you all to our website. We are a society for the development of the Lafarge-Umiam mining-affected areas of Meghalaya. We ensure that the communities and future generations of the Umiam Basin region are given the platform for all-round development.

I would like to share a short message on why we embarked on this digital endeavour. Through this portal, we aim to educate and inform the general public of the mechanisms that have been put in place to channel funds to the rightful beneficiaries in various forms – via line departments and directly to the stakeholders.

This website is our humble attempt to maintain the transparency of our work and to increase our accountability to the general public and other interested parties. We are a unit of positive-minded, driven employees. Our
priority is and will always remain the welfare of the region that we serve.

I hope the website sheds more light on all the good work that our team members have been doing in collaboration with other contributing parties and stakeholders. We will be uploading more media and information with time.

Thank you very much,
Peter Dkhar
